El Paso was painted as a larger scale sequel to my original painting, Texas Red, carrying the same outlaw spirit into a new larger chapter. I wanted this piece to feel like the next scene in the story; a lone cowboy moving through the West with a presence that feels both mysterious and untamed.
At 36 x 48 inches, the larger scale allowed me to push the intensity even further. The deep teal and electric red create a dramatic contrast, while the exposed flashes of red and heavy, textured brushwork give the cowboy and his horse a sense of movement and raw energy. El Paso is my modern interpretation of the legends of the Old West.
