Tatanka: The traditional Lakota word for the animal.

Tatanka may be smaller in scale, but I wanted it to carry the presence of something much larger. The bison has always felt like one of the most powerful symbols of the American West; representing strength, resilience, and a history deeply rooted in the land.

The bold red and black bison commands the canvas, while the vibrant turquoise and textured negative space give it a distinctly modern energy. Tatanka is a reminder that something doesn’t have to be large to feel important. Sometimes the smallest pieces can still carry a powerful story.
